New Yorkers: Today was your day to adopt a senior citizen. Turns out BAM Rose Cinemas hosts free bi-monthly screenings for folks 65 and over, and this morning they showed cinetrix fave Swing Time.
Never fear, if you mislaid your discounted Metrocard or don't live in New York, you can still watch the achingly romantic number "Never Gonna Dance" right here, in all its glittery Art Deco splendor.
Fred and Ginger are always close to my thoughts, but never more so than now, as we segue from dicussions of scopophilia and auteurism in Rear Window [holla atcha, Mulvey and Modleski] to the final film of the semester, Woody Allen's The Purple Rose of Cairo. If you've never seen it, or if you haven't seen it lately, give it a look over the weekend and swing back by here next week, where I'll doubtless have much to say about this unfairly slept-on entry in the Woodman's oeuvre.
