Nestled amid the near-constant stream of announcements from Tribeca PR hacks was the following tantalizing bit of information:

The Tribeca All Access Connects (TAA) program, which fosters relationships between U.S.-based filmmakers of color and film industry executives, announced today the winners of the third Tribeca All Access Creative Promise Awards.

At last night’s Tribeca All Access Connects Awards at the Tribeca Grand, the following winner’s were announced:
§ Narrative section prize - Sterlin Harjo for his current screenplay, "Before the Beast Returns."
§ Documentary section prize - Lacey Schwartz for her documentary work-in-progress, "Outside the Box."
§ Screenplay section prize – Milton Liu for his screenplay, "John Hughes Ruined My Life."

Screenplay winner Milton Liu’s "John Hughes Ruined My Life" tells the story of a lonely and single 30-something woman who grew up on John Hughes' movies and finds that in this day and age, searching for her Jake Ryan is more like "Some Kind of Terrible."

Say it with me, this guy Liu is a supergenius and will be very rich, although assembling the right soundtrack will be key. [The cinetrix has just one question: Why would a documentary need a screenplay?]
