I think that the strongest experiences I have of moving images are not from the cinema; it's from the Internet and from YouTube. I think that's what we have to compare ourselves with. If we are working as a director, those must be the images that we are comparing our work with because otherwise I think that cinema will be treated the same way as we are treating opera today—just culture that we have because of its historical value. We need to update that tradition.
